About H3 “HELP HEAL HOPE”
H3 is a community-based nonprofit created to inspire, encourage, and empower youth and adults through mentorship, guidance, community outreach, and resource connection.
We believe every person has value, every life has purpose, and no circumstance has to define someone’s future.
Our Story
Where We Came From to Why We Serve
H3 was not created because we had everything figured out. It was created because we know what it feels like to struggle, make mistakes, face hard seasons, and wonder if life can really become something different.
We are Scotty and Lisa Scott, a husband and wife who have spent years serving, giving back, and helping people simply because we genuinely care. H3 is a reflection of who we are, where we come from, and what we believe.
We believe in Hope.
Because if you don't have hope, you don't have anything. And when you lose hope, you have lost everything. But with hope, a little work, and someone willing to believe in you, we believe the sky is the limit.
Where It Started
Our lives have not always looked like they do today.
We made mistakes when we were younger and mine (Scotty's) went down a path that led to incarceration more than once, beginning as a juvenile. When I finally came home for the last time at 41 years old, I looked around at my community, at what was happening around me, and at the young people coming behind me. I knew right then and there that change was needed and necessary. But before I could ask anybody else to change, I had to change the game in me first.
I made a decision to become a different man, build a different life, and become someone my family could be proud of. I started my career, worked hard—averaging 80–90 hours a week and we started our small family storefront business, Errthing U Need + Tee's. It wasn't easy, but we kept going because we were determined to build something different. And once I began changing the game in my own life, I knew I wanted to help change the game for others who might be headed down the wrong road.
Lisa and I have been on this journey together from the very beginning, building it side by side and doing the work together every step of the way. Together, we began doing what we could, where we could, when we could. We didn't wait until we had an organization, funding, or somebody gave us permission. We simply helped because we genuinely cared.
Filling the Voids We See
The programs we created through H3 were not created just to have programs. They came from real needs, real experiences, and real voids we saw in the community we come from.
Our Annual Eastside Community Event was born from wanting to bring Christmas to the hood I grew up in. We saw Christmas programs and toy drives happening throughout other parts of the city, and we wanted our children and families to experience that same love, joy, and sense of belonging right here at home.
Our Every Step Matters: Back-to-School New Shoe Drive came from another void. School supplies are given out all over the city, but new shoes can be an expensive need for families. We wanted to help fill that gap and give children the opportunity to start the school year with confidence, dignity, and hope.
And Chill and Be Still is our movement against youth and gun violence. We want to see our kids succeed, graduate, build careers, raise families, and live full lives—not locked away for life or gone way too soon. I know that life because I lived it. I also know that change is necessary, and sometimes change is a good thing. We want our young people to know there is another way.
Keeping Hope Alive
Ultimately, that is what H3 is about:
Keeping Hope Alive—for childhood and adulthood alike.
For the child who needs somebody to believe in them.
For the family that needs a helping hand.
For the young person who needs to see another path.
And especially for adults transitioning back into society who are trying to rebuild their lives after incarceration.
We want to help pave the way, not simply tell people to find the way. We want people coming home to have an opportunity to become the next success story in their family, just like I became one in mine.
We know firsthand that your past does not have to determine your future.
Someone believed in me.
Someone helped me.
I changed the game in me.
Now Lisa and I want to help others change the game in themselves.
We are simply trying to do what we can, where we can, when we can—fill the voids we see, create opportunities where they are needed, and remind people that HOPE is still here.
Because when you have hope, you have something to build on. And with hope, a little work, and somebody willing to believe in you—the sky is the limit.
